The Daughters of Our Lady in Brazil Thank You for Their New Car

Success Story

"We pray to God to bless all the benefactors for this generous gift, which is so vital to our mission." This was how the Daughters of Our Lady in Brazil wrote to express their heartfelt thanks to the ACN benefactors who made it possible for them to buy their new car.Success Story

In the Diocese of Eunápolis, the Daughters of Our Lady of Mount Calvary minister to the Pataxò indians in eight main villages. “There is a very friendly and loving relationship between us and the Indians” writes Sister Maria Elisabeth. The Sisters not only help with a range of different social and charitable activities, but also provide catechetical instruction and instruction for the children, as well as introducing them to the Rosary, Word liturgies and patronal feast days.

However, in order to reach these villages, the Sisters have to travel from  25 to 45 miles on extremely bad roads. Their old landrover, which had already travelled over 248,000 miles, was no longer up to the task and increasingly left them stranded in the middle of nowhere. It is not hard to imagine how it must have felt for these Sisters to find themselves alone in the wilderness with a broken-down vehicle. It was an impossible situation, and so the Sisters turned trustingly to ACN and asked our help.

Thanks to the generosity of our benefactors, the Sisters were not disappointed and we were able to help them with $46,700 so that they could buy a new and suitably rugged vehicle that would allow them to continue their village ministry.
