Support Contemplative Augustinian Sisters in Mexico

Project Code: 230-06-39

The Diocese of Huejutla in north-east Mexico is one of the three poorest in the country. But since 1970, there has been a convent of the contemplative Augustinian religious Sisters in the diocese. The 21 religious here live a life of prayer and strict asceticism and Bishop Salvador Rangel Mendoza of Huejutla is glad and grateful to have them living in his diocese. Support Contemplative Augustinian Sisters in Mexico

Bishop Mendoza knows that the Sisters themselves are poor. They themselves come from poor, and in some cases very poor, families, who cannot support them financially. The town also suffers from high unemployment. As a result, it is difficult for these Sisters even to sell the homemade products they make, and their income fluctuates from month to month as a result, depending on whether they manage to sell anything or not.

Despite their very modest lifestyle, the Sisters are still unable to support themselves. Their food, electricity, telephone, medication and medical treatment, their day-to-day necessities and occasional necessary repairs—all these things still have to be paid for somehow.

Bishop Mendoza has turned to ACN for help for the Sisters. For just $7,000 we can help to support them for an entire year.

Will you give to support these contemplative Sisters in Mexico? We are sure they will remember you in their grateful prayers.
