Furnish a Seminary Library in Peru
Monday, April 4, 2016
Seminaries need a well-furnished library if seminarians are to gain a solid and rounded formation. The rector of this seminary, Father Eberth Carranza Segura, has turned to ACN. Will you help?
The Catholic Church in Peru urgently needs more
priests, and urgently needs study materials for seminarians. Although close to
88% of the country’s population nominally describe themselves as Catholics,
many do not practice their faith, and there are simply too few priests
available to minister pastorally to the faithful.
Nonetheless, there are some reasons for optimism,
since the number of vocations is rising. So it was that the Diocese of Huacho
opened a seminary in 2011 in which, each year, more and more young men are
preparing to serve one day as priests at the Altar. This diocese is also very
active in promoting the vocations apostolate and its work is bearing good
fruit. Currently there are nearly 60 seminarians training at the seminary here.
There are also 20 lay pastoral workers preparing to serve in the Church.
Over the past years, ACN's generous donors have
supported the formation of seminarians. But seminaries also need a well-furnished
library if the seminarians are to gain a solid and rounded formation. The
rector of the seminary, Father Eberth Carranza Segura has turned to ACN for
help on this occasion. He has sent us a long list of books that the seminary
still lacks. We are helping with $7,700.
Will you give to furnish this seminary library to
promote vocations in Peru?
